Breast cancer develops from breast tissue and is most commonly seen in women, though men can also be affected. The disease typically starts in the lining of the milk ducts or the lobules that supply these ducts with milk. Symptoms include a lump in the breast, changes in breast shape, dimpling of the skin, fluid coming from the nipple, and red or scaly patches of skin. Early detection through screening mammograms significantly improves the outcome.
